SRINAGAR:As part of the biannual Durbar move, the civil secretariat and other state government offices closed in Srinagar on Friday and will open in Jammu on November 5.

The offices of the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court and the Director General of Police also closed operations from Srinagar. Other offices of various departments having six-day will close on Saturday.

This is for the first time in 10 years that the Durbar move from Srinagar to Jammu is taking place under the Governor’s rule.

While the seat of the government shifts to Jammu for the next six months, it has established the winter secretariat here to address the problems faced by the people of the Kashmir division during harsh winter months. This is in addition to the Governor’s grievance cell, where the Advisers address the public issues on a weekly basis. The winter secretariat, which was started in the early 1990s, was not being established for the past three years.
