REASI: A Road safety awareness programme was organized by the Department of Motor Vehicles at Bus Stand, here on Saturday.

Addressing the gathering ADC Rajinder Sharma stressed on use of seatbelt and helmets for safe and secure driving. He also urged parents not to allow underage and unlicensed family members to drive any motor vehicle.

Highlighting the importance of following traffic rules, DySP Nikhil Gogna said that in 2018 alone, 186 vehicular accidents caused 29 deaths and  grievous  injuries to 249  in Reasi. He called for immediate measures and collective efforts to avoid such accidents.

ARTO Reasi, Shammi Kumar asked the transporters not to drive under the influence of drugs and alcohol. He also asked them to refrain from plying unfit vehicles and overloading of passengers. He also informed commercial vehicle drivers to avail AASRA, a free-of-cost insurance scheme launched by Social Welfare Department

SHO Reasi, Ashwani Sharma, Motor Vehicles Inspector, Sunil Sharma and SO Traffic, Irshad Ahmad were also present on the occasion.
