Career counselling programme for IIT, JEE aspirants concludes at Kargil

KARGIL: Executive Councillor for Tourism and Zanskar Affairs Er Punchoq Tashi said that career counselling for students at the school level can play a pivotal role in guiding them to choose the right career goal, better planning for it and give them a better future ahead.

The Executive Councillor stated this while addressing students at the concluding session of the three-day career counselling programme for NIT and JEE aspirants. The programme was organized by the Students Educational Movement of Kargil (SEMOK) and IIT Aspirants of Ladakh (IAOL) at Language Centre Kargil.

Around 300 students of 11th and 12th science stream participated in the counselling sessions where they were enlightened about the examination patterns and other related aspects by the speakers including the student of IIT Kharakpur Bashir Ahmad, Maisam Ali Akhone of IIT Kanpur, Mukhtar Ahmed IIST Kerala and Nassir Ali IIT Mumbai.

The EC while appreciating the efforts of SEMOK and Aspirants of Ladakh (IAOL) for having organized the counselling programme expressed hope that it will go a long way in guiding the students for career options in engineering and allied sectors.

Er Tashi said that it is important that students are guided through such counselling programmes from time to time so as to enable them to find out their interests as well as strengths and weaknesses. He said it will help them to choose career options that are in line with their interest and aptitude.

The EC urged upon the organizers to hold similar programmes in future as well and assured all-out support from the Hill Council in this regard.

Others, who spoke on the occasion included members of SEMOK Zulikha Banoo, Sadiq Ali and Aaoliya Zainab.
